3 Things To Do: June 12 - 18

The Norfolk Tides are back at Harbor Park this week and will take on the Worcester Red Sox Tuesday through Sunday. If you are trying to decide which day to go, here are some deals and fun events happening during some of this week’s games: Tuesday is Bark in the Park where your dog can watch the game with you for just $5, Wednesday is Pride Night, Saturday will feature post-game fireworks, and on Sunday, you and your dad can play catch on the field ahead of the Father’s Day game.

In honor of Pride Month, Smartmouth is hosting a “Break Free Pride Dance Party” at the Pilot House. It’s happening Thursday, June 15 from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. We are told it is completely free and everyone is welcome. There will be a new brew on tap, and the proceeds from that will go to Hampton Roads Pride.

Summer Nights return to Busch Gardens later this week. From June 16 to August 13, parkgoers get to experience Busch Gardens after dark, with light-up coasters, fireworks, and a concert series that will feature Flo Rida and Maddie & Tae. On top of that, all members aged 21 and up will get a free beer, and non-members can get beer for just 50 cents. Tickets will cost the same as normal admission.

For the second year in a row, Juneteenth is being celebrated at the beach. Team LAMB and the LAMBS Foundation are hosting a three-day festival starting this Saturday. It’s happening at 24th Street Stage and Park in Virginia Beach and is free to the public. There will be live entertainment, activities and more.

If you are in Norfolk this weekend, there will be a festival at Town Point Park. The event is happening Saturday, June 17 from noon to 6:30 p.m. We are told along with the celebration, there will be several vendors with essential resources on site, including potential job opportunities.

Down in Elizabeth City, the city is hosting a celebration festival at Mariners’ Wharf Park. It’s happening Saturday, June 17 at 3 p.m. This year’s theme is “Educate, celebrate and praise.” We are told there will be free food, games, a children’s area and more.

On Monday, June 19, the Juneteenth Freedom Festival is happening in Newport News. It runs from noon to 5 p.m. at King-Lincoln Park off Jefferson Avenue. The event is free to everyone.
