Where to find fireworks this weekend & on the 4th of July in Hampton Roads!

HAMPTON ROADS, Va. — Kick your 4th of July weekend off with fireworks and events around the area!

We’ve compiled the list below of different events you can enjoy throughout Hampton Roads this weekend and on July 4.

We will continue to update this list as we learn of new events and firework shows.

What’s legal and illegal when it comes to fireworks in Virginia

Suffolk

Enjoy the Stars & Stripes Spectacular on July 4, as the skies of Suffolk light up with a fireworks show over the beautiful Nansemond River at Constant’s Wharf Park & Marina, 110 E. Constance Rd. The park will open at 5:30 p.m. with entertainment, children’s activities, merchandise vendors and a variety of food choices. A large area with bounce houses and games will be available for children 12 and under. Rocky 7 will take the stage at 6 p.m. with a repertoire of songs in a variety of styles. The fireworks show will begin at 9 p.m. There is no on-site parking for this event. Shuttle parking will begin at 5:15 p.m. from the following sites:

  • First Baptist Church, 237 N. Main St.
  • Mills Godwin Courthouse Building, 150 N. Main St.
  • The last shuttle run before the fireworks begin is at 8:20 p.m. Shuttles will resume after the fireworks have concluded.
    Smithfield

    Ahead of July 4th, the City of Smithfield is putting on a fireworks display. The display should be visible through most of Downtown Smithfield. The display will be on Sunday, July 2 at 9:30 p.m. from Clontz Park. Good viewing areas include the Smithfield Station Bridge and along the river.

    Isle of Wight

    2023 Independence Day Celebration – Fireworks at the Fairgrounds are on Sunday, July 2. You can visit Heritage Park, 21311 Courthouse Hwy, for . Gates will open at 4:30 p.m. and fireworks begin at 9:30 p.m.

    The event, hosted by the Isle of Wight Department of Parks and Recreation, will have food vendors, face painting, live music, and more. Grayson Torrence will begin performing at 5 p.m. Celeste Kellogg will begin at 7:30 p.m. The event is free and open to the public.

    Norfolk

  • Norfolk Tides will have fireworks after the game on July 1 at Harbor Park. You can buy tickets by
  • Fireworks Cruise on the American Rover: Downtown Norfolk fireworks can be seen from the water at Waterside. After a quick tour of the Inner Harbor, they’ll position the ship to give people an incredible view of the fireworks show. Enjoy music on board with a live acoustic guitarist!
  • You can leave the grillng to on the 4th of July and bring your family and friends down to Town Point Park. Guests can buy traditional, all-American fare, including hot dogs, hamburgers, barbecue, seafood, buttered corn on the cob, watermelon, lemonade and much more available for purchase! Fest organizers say you can relax on the lawn and enjoy the live entertainment, then watch as the sky lights up with the fireworks display at 9:30pm! The event is July 4 from 5 p.m. to 11 p.m.
  • Virginia Beach

  • Celebrate with your friends and family at our annual July 4th Celebration at Mount Trashmore Park! Fireworks begin at 9:30 pm. Admission is free; limited onsite parking is $20 (cash only). Food and drinks available for purchase. Performances by BJ Griffin.
  • Join the 55 members of Tidewater Winds Concert Band and the Tidewater Winds Summer Breeze Band for a 4th to remember! Listen to powerful Americana music before the fireworks, with selections from Chicago, Michael Jackson, Stevie Wonder, ABBA, and all of your traditional patriotic songs that salute our Military and honor our flag! Meet us on 24th Street Stage at the oceanfront in Virginia Beach.
  • Chesapeake

    Celebrate America’s Birthday with band concerts providing stirring patriotic sounds. Following the concerts, fireworks by Pyrotecnico will illuminate the dark sky after sunset. The event is FREE to the public. $5 on-site parking fee: Chesapeake City Park, 900 City Park Drive. Bring your own chairs or blanket. (Tents, feather flags, and oversized umbrellas are not permitted!)
